Welcome to our Japanese Community! We are (L to R) Roberta Evensen, Nami Suzuki, and Shohei Suzuki. We are deeply interested in Japanese people, culture and life. So we are always excited to meet, and to serve Japanese who are especially living here in Chicago. Many Japanese people do not have much opportunity to hear the word of God because less than 1% Christianity in Japan. But, when they come or visit the U.S., the opportunity of hearing the Word is very high. Also, they are very open to Christianity and are looking forward making Christian friends. Therefore, we provide 3 areas of ministries for Japanese which you can involve, too. Invite your Japanese friends to our Sunday service with Japanese simultaneous translation! The Orchard is always preparing great worship experience with music and with the Word of God. Plus, there is a Japanese Simultaneous translation available each Sunday. So, your Japanese friends can hear the message of pastor Colin in Japanese. Also, your Japanese friends can read Sunday message sermons in Japanese, too.

2. Life

Teach the Bible to Japanese people using your English ! We have 4 steps method to teach the Bible to Japanese using bilingual Bible study resource. Japanese will be appreciated learning the Bible and English at the same time. Roberta Evensen is currently teaching the Bible in English in the setting of Life Group at the Orchard. You can come to her Bible study and learn from her how to teach the Bible to them. Don't forget to invite your Japanese friends to the Japanese Bible study life group, too.
Bible Study for Japanese Women: English as a second language

This is a Bible Study for women who have never read the Bible, as well as, for those who have studied the Bible before, but want to learn in English (our study materials will be bi-lingual). The teacher has lived in Japan and taught Bible classes to Japanese women for 15 years. Join this friendly group for an interesting discussion! email Roberta.

We study the Word of God from NT and OT. We also share family and parenting challenges that are common among women. We study in nursery room, so your children can come with you. New English coverversation focus class is starting for English as a 2nd language international friends. If you are interested in meeting any multi-cultural friends, this is the place for you to meet with them. We are not only only teach English, but we also teach the story of the Bible so that the Word of God will be known into various cultural people and nations. You do not necesarry to have teaching experience, you just showed up meeting internationals and teach English using our easy teaching Englis resource that you can easily handle it for. The Orchard Badminton Club
Intorduce The Orchard Badminton Club to your Japanese friends! Every 2nd and 4th Monday from 9:30am - 11:30 am, Japanese women get together to play badminton at The Orchard. Most participants are beginners.
