Notes from Gary on the work the team was able to accomplish during the week.

We today (Friday) when we left the ministry center at 1:00 to go to the market (so of us had some money we wanted to spend) what was the status, the electrical panel had been replaced with a new one, as the team electrician told me that he had never seen a panel like the one we took out or like the one we replaced it with, so a learning experience for everyone. The office area had the two walls build with drywall up, and the first coat of mud on part of it, three doors insulted, two stairways build and there landing built, this was as far as could be gone without the loft floor being ready to be put in. The youth area had a new stairway, all the pipe removed and rerouted and the twelve walls built plus the wall for the stairway, yes this can become a nice area for the youth. Yes, we got further that Brad or I had expected we might, so it was a very good work week and work team.

Note from Georgette:

Friendships have grown deeper throughout the week as we have worked side by side at the Center. Our special day ended with a precious time of devotions with blessings being specifically prayed for each member of the team. My memory verse for our trip is being lived out. “If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness or compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.” Phil. 2:1-2

Friday, January 13, 2012 Hello from Budapest

After leaving Chicago in a snowstorm and a five hour layover in Frankfurt, Germany the team arrived safely in Budapest. They were met at the airport by Brad Mullet and Mark Revel and then drove them to the Kelenfor Ministry Center where they offered a prayer of thanksgiving for a safe trip and the many hands who came to work.

Saturday, January 14

Brad led the group on a tour of Budapest to take in the sights, sounds and smells of the city. On the tour he shared his passion for Budapest and how he and others, 15 years ago, prayed that a church would be planted. That prayer was answered as there is a church there today. He believes that doors are beginning to open and God is working through the ministry of the Kelenfold Ministry Center. The prayer request of the group is, "God give us strength to accomplish the work You have given us to do."

Sunday, January 15 Worship with the Hungarian Church

Roger wrote, "Amidst a very Godless and tired cultural atomsphere, God's influence was felt in a community of people desirous of showing faith trhough worship. We worshipped in the Danube International Church, singing songs, sharing communion and studying scripture. I was really touched by the ability to praise God without language or cultural diversity getting in the way. Thank you for your prayers."

Monday, January 16 Finally, we get to work!

The day began at 6:30 and before work was started, a prayer was give for all the work areas. Each member tackled a different area:

Roger began deciphering the electrical panels; Matt and Paul cut out old sewer pipes (phewy); Jim supervised the Hungarian concrete cutters; Ed supervised farming out the office space; Mike shoveled broken concrete into buckets; Joe framed out walls in the basement; Becky and Georgette became the expert tin snippets and Gary supervised them all. A very satisfying day of hard work!

Tuesday, January 17  Sewer Stud

Do you know what a sewer stud is? A sewer stud is someone who works underground, cutting and removing pipe that originally dispensed waster material over 25 years ago. Joe, Ed, Matt and Paul are the sewer studs working on removing old pipe and adding studs. These studs will allow them to form new walls that will become the new Youth Room at the Kelenfold Ministry Center. Becky and Georgette are busy cutting the studs for the "sewer studs" to install.  Meanwhile, Roger and Jim are updating the 1940s electrical panel with a modern and safe panel. Mike, the youngest crew member, is the "do all", go to guy who is filling in wherever he is needed. Gary makes sure each job is accomplished according to plan.

My uncle and I drove through Hungary en route from Austria to Romania about 15 years ago and everyone told us: \“drive as fast as you can and don\‘t stop or roll down your windows\”.  Not strictly following the advice we slept a night in our van and also took in the sights of Budapest.  The people were kind but their faces reflected hardship and the deep need for inner peace.  Praying God\‘s blessing on your trip this week and you bring encouragement to the brethren!  \“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.\” Matt 5:9

Mr. Steiger,
I am glad that you are able to serve in Budapest.  I bet you\‘re a great sewer stud! :)  I hope that you are able to share Christ with everyone you meet.  I missed you at Winter Extreme.

Thank you all for giving up your time to serve this community.

Dear Orchard family, thank you for sending a wonderful team of skilled and talented laborers.  I believe they accomplished all that God had kindly determined for them in the time they had here. Due to the schedule of ministries in the ministry center, they had 4 1/2 days of hard labor on several very demanding projects.  Every one of them took out time from their last work day to be interviewed and share about themselves in my English Discussion Group—it was a highlight for my students to hear some of their stories and several testimonies. Thank you for sending a team to sow in Hungarian soil. God can change the soil and make it grow.
Belonging in Christ,  Brad and Kari Mullet
