As Christians, we are called to make disciples for Jesus Christ. Of course, the first step is sharing the Gospel with others. However, in the midst of these encounters, we are sometimes asked difficult questions—questions that can be stumbling blocks to accepting the Gospel—and we are left groping for answers. This is where apologetics comes in. Apologetics simply means giving "a reason or a defense," and Scripture exhorts us to "to give an answer to everyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you."
Thus, in this six-week class, we will focus on three things: 1) Addressing some of the toughest objections against the Christian faith 2) Giving reasons and evidence to believe that Christianity is true 3) Offering tactics and strategies to help us maneuver through these conversations in a way that is kind, gracious, and compelling. By the end of the six weeks, you will be better equipped “to give an answer” to those you talk with about the Gospel and Christianity.
Topics are:
- What is apologetics and how should we do it? (Jan 18)
- Can we be good without God (God and morality)? (Jan 25)
