Athletes in Action Bulgaria
Did you know that Chicago has the largest Bulgarian community outside of Bulgaria?! There are around 150,000 Bulgarian people living in Chicago! This summer The Orchard Multi-Cultural Ministries hosted the Athletes in Action Bulgarian basketball team. Athletes in Action is a global ministry, with outreaches in over 90 countries. This ministry sends out some 45 competitive teams internationally every summer to represent Christ, while exchanging cultural experiences and competing in various sports. Bulgarian basketball athletes, coach, and staff home-stayed at our church. They definitely tasted the best part of Chicago. They had a great time with host families and visited many places like United Center, Millennium Park, Chicago Tower, and local sports shops for souvenir. Fascinating part of their mission to the U.S. is that they came to explore who Jesus is more and to know Him as their God wholeheartedly. They also expressed passion of Jesus Christ in their basketball game. They have had 2 games in Chicago with the local university team and presented the basket ball clinic to local kids and students. Both American and Bulgarian people had a great time and are united in Christ. We hope that we see you them soon here Chicago, again.
