Hope For Kidz Testimony – Paul Henkels
We first got involved in supporting a Hope For Kidz (HFK) child at our sister church in Astruc with our couples’ LIFE Group. We each received a picture of our child and our LIFE Group would routinely pray for her. It was a great way to take that first step in getting involved in this ministry. And now my men’s LIFE Group supports a child.
I have had the pleasure and privilege of participating in three short-term mission teams to our sister church in Astruc, Haiti. And on my second and third trips, I was able to meet the child our LIFE Group sponsored. Pretty cool! Reciprocal Ministries International (RMI) makes it a priority for the sponsors who are visiting our sister church to meet their child while visiting and provide interpreters. So, a little extra reward for those thinking of participating on a future mission trip to Haiti! Also, whenever a mission team from The Orchard comes to Astruc, sponsors have the opportunity to send along a letter and small gift to our sponsored child. The Orchard team and RMI make sure the child receives the letter (translated, of course).
The program makes it possible for many children to attend school that they would otherwise not have, provide a meal (which often is the only one that they will have that day) and most important, receive a Christ–centered education. I have been fortunate to witness this marvelous work first hand.
HFK is a great way to support not only a child, but also the Astruc school where teams from The Orchard have had a hand in building several classrooms and benches. It really helps and encourages our sister church to minister to the community and see the Gospel run in a very practical way!Tags: Haiti, Hope, Hope for Kidz, Missions
