As a young family with two young boys, we joined the launch team for the Barrington Campus some years ago. We were excited to be a part of this new work to reach new people and it matched well with Brett's ministry as Director of Church Multiplication for the Great Lakes District of the EFCA. We got to be a part of launching a new ministry called LIFE Connections and later Stephanie served in the nursery. We saw God work in marvelous ways through this congregation over the years. Sensing that our time in Barrington had come to an end, we as a family with four boys now decided to return to Arlington Heights in the fall of 2019. Although we knew we would miss our friends and pastors in Barrington, we felt at peace to return to Arlington Heights.
In Brett's church multiplication ministry, he has been praying about a new work in Vernon Hills for some time. Although we did not sense that we as a family would be a part of it, we were excited that The Orchard was taking the initiative for this new work. The Lord however directed in other ways. Our son, David, got involved in the music ministry for the youth group at Arlington Heights. While serving one evening, Pastor Tom Yoon noticed David playing drums and asked me if we would be interested in being a part of the work in Vernon Hills. We are looking forward to being a part of this congregation and seeing how he will use each member of our family to reach others with the Gospel. We are reminded of Christ’s words in Luke 10:2-3, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go!...”
