In a year that has made us feel so distant from people, God has blessed us greatly through our regularly meeting LIFE Group. Perhaps like yours, our 2020 has been hectic and unpredictable, and many things have felt up in the air. But one thing that has been constant is our time in prayer and in the Word with others from the Itasca congregation. It has been so nice to spend time with our friends discussing recent sermons and reading through books together! Our LIFE Group has blessed us not only with some stability but also with perspective. Often, we can feel like we are the only ones who are struggling. But our LIFE Group openly shares life situations with one another. We share how the Lord is doing amazing things in our lives, and we also “bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2). Through this, we have found joy in the Lord when he works graciously in others’ lives, and we also care for others’ pain even if we have some of our own or if we aren’t struggling personally at that moment (Romans 12:15). In other words, our LIFE Group reminds us that our lives are not only about us—there is great joy to be found in loving God and loving others.
