We had been wanting to join a LIFE Group for some time, and just had not gotten to it. It can be scary to start something new. When the virus hit, it seemed like an even worse time to try to join one, as there are even more complications such as wearing masks, using Zoom, establishing people's comfort level, etc.… Although we thought this may be one of the most inconvenient times to join a group, we found it also was one of the most necessary times to start growing connections with others and feeling bonded to the body of Christ. While listening to an old Christmas sermon by Pastor Colin he unwrapped the importance of Matthew 1:23, "A child will be born and will be called Immanuel; God with us." One of the main points is that the verse is God with us, not God with me. The church is clearly very important to God, and so it is very important to us and we wanted it to be shown as important through our actions. During our time at LIFE Group, we were reminded of the support other believers can have for one another. We found that the time of discussion on the weekly sermon helped us establish how we could implement the word of God into our lives. We found that we were motivated to pay closer attention at the weekly sermon as we knew that we would be discussing it during our LIFE Group. We also found that it helped us maintain a close connection to the church despite the virtual format. We are thankful that God provided us with opportunities to grow together in the church.
